REFIK YURTSEVER, was born in 1957 in Diyarbakır, Turkey. In early 70’s while studying in Diyarbakır Ziya Gökalp College he was remarked for his oil painting works and insterest in art. In 76-83’s he took practical and theoretical courses in drawing, sculpturing and leaded glassing from his teacher Mükremin Mungan in capital city Ankara.

In 1978, after successfully passing the special talent examination he began education in Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. In the first year of his studies he took the basic art education from such a respected teachers as Özer Kabaş, Saim Bugay, Seyit Bozdoğan and others. In the following years of his education, although being a student of interior architecture, he continued his painting works in the academy’s atelier.

In 1983 his selected art works were presented on “La Peinture en Turquie” exhibition and its catalog organized by the Embassy of France.

In 1985, participating in group exhibitions of those years, the artist graduated from the Interior Architecture Department of the Faculty of Architecture. Later on for many years because of the economical and social reasons he worked abroad as an architect in construction projects. At the same time he continued his art works. On return to Turkey he opened his own atelier in Anatolian Fortress of Istanbul (Anadolu Hisarı). This day the artist having a great collection of art works presented them in scores of solo and group exhibitions. Today, He is continuing his works at his workshop in Datça, Muğla-Türkiye
